Dr. Mark Slovin has a broad medical background including degrees in both Pharmacy and Dentistry. He attended Brooklyn College of Pharmacy graduating in 1968. Dr. Slovin then studied at Georgetown University School of Dentistry graduating with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1972. He has practiced Family, General, and Cosmetic Dentistry in Islip, Long Island, New York with an emphasis on Dental Anxiety and Phobia Treatment.
Dr. Slovin participated in the establishment of the first Dental Anxiety and Phobia Program in the nation at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City in 1980. After 10 years of service at Mount Sinai, he was approached in 1990 by the Stony Brook University School of Dentistry to establish a Dental Anxiety and Phobia Program which involves educating dental students (future dentists) in techniques and strategies to help overcome dental anxiety in their patients. Dr. Slovin currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Stony Brook University School of Dentistry and Director of its Dental Phobia Program. Dr. Slovin lectures nationwide on the subject of Dental Anxiety and Phobia Treatment.
